Courtney Hickey, LCSW

She/her/hers

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I’ll stay by your side on your very worst days and cheer for you on your best ones.

Together, we will work to identify effective strategies for managing stress and reclaiming a sense of agency in your life.

Receiving a challenging medical diagnosis can leave you feeling uncertain and powerless. Or perhaps you have recently experienced a significant loss: loss of an ability, the future you were planning, or a significant person in your life. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by the medical jargon, struggling to communicate your needs to healthcare providers, or simply trying to make sense of it all, know that I'm here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

I also support healthcare providers that are experiencing burnout and stress from the demands of the job. Having witnessed firsthand the toll that the medical field can take on doctors and nurses, I am dedicated to providing a safe non-judgmental space for you to explore your emotions, cope with stress, and find balance in your life.

My approach to therapy is grounded in creating a safe and empathetic environment where you can freely express your emotions and experiences without fear of judgment. Therapy is collaborative, but guided by you and your goals. I will help you identify strategies to manage stress more effectively and regain a sense of direction and purpose in your life.

I earned a Masters degree in social work with a concentration in children and family, from the University of Illinois, Chicago. My professional experience spans across diverse healthcare settings, including private practice, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Swedish Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Holy Cross Hospital, as well as roles at Youth Outreach Services and Safe Haven Family Shelter. My work has involved assisting both adults and children, allowing me to develop a well-rounded understanding of various client needs and perspectives.
